Giusy Naitana was born and raised in the Netherlands near Amsterdam. Born to a Dutch-Italian family she started her creative career in dance and music at the Scapino Ballet Academy. Subsequently Giusy worked as a performer in a street theatre group, (Close Act). Giusy was drawn early on towards photography and from there came her infinite fascination for the moving image and film editing.
In 2005 Giusy graduated from the Netherlands Film and Television Academy with a BA degree in film editing at the in 2005. Her final projects included one short fiction,Lena, the children television series “Docklands”, 2006 Golden Cinekid Award winner episode 1. Nina and Jelle and one interactive cross media installation ,Nightwatcher (in collaboration with the New Media department).
In 2006, Giusy moved to Athens working both as a co-editor and first-assistant editor for a Greek television drama series “Exo ena Mystiko” and three Greek feature films. The last film she worked on, as first assistant for Yannis Chalkiadakis , ”Knifer” received 7 Hellenic Academy awards including the one for “best editing”.
Since moving to Copenhagen in summer 2009 Giusy has been working as freelance TV and Film editor on both documentary, fiction, entertainment, music videos and art films. The first short film she edited in Denmark was Liv directed by Rasmus Kloster Bro. Giusy was the first lead editor on the TV series Klassen and worked together with producer Morten Dannisboe from the development fase. Klassen became the most popular TV series for children in Denmark and has won several European and Nordic prices for best TV-series. Giusy has since been editing 5 episodes of the TV drama series Kolonien and most recently finished the edit of 9 episodes for the new season of TV drama series Baseboys II for DR Ultra.
